As a relatively new wellness modality, Life Coaching is fast becoming a strong force in personal growth and introspection. A Life Coach is someone who aids a client in bridging the gap between where they currently are and where they want to be.
A coach works with a client to articulate and achieve his or her goals. Many times individuals will find themselves in a place where they simply feel "stuck" in one or multiple areas of life. Individuals may feel stagnant in their professional, relational, or spiritual lives and aren't exactly sure who to turn to. It doesn't always seem like something to search out a therapist for, so who does one turn to? Enter the coaching modality. A coach supports clients who may be going through a career or life transition, want to fulfill a secret dream, want to spend more time and energy on what matters to them, determine what their life purpose truly is, or simply just want to live a fuller life. The coach and client agree upon certain actions that bring the client closer to his or her best life.
A coach will provide support in multiple ways:
1) Asking provocative questions
2) Providing challenges and brainstorming and sometimes, assignments
3) Providing the structure and focus needed for the client to stay in action
4) Hold client accountable to action in between calls or visits
5) Hold a safe space for the client to truly be themselves and be accepted as such
Coaching is an alliance between two individuals working toward a common goal, which will be established by the client. Each and every relationship is unique and special. If you or someone you know could benefit from such a relationship, please email or call Amy Smith for details. Please see our Contact page for further information.
