Case Study: I have just started the 10 Session Series of the Rolf Method on Art whos the owner of Ando Aston PT in Anaheim Hills. I take before and after photos to show to my clients, if they so desire, and Art gave me permission to discuss and post his progress.

Art is symmetric in his front and back photos, but when we looked at his side photos we could see that his knees lock back and his weigh is forward on his toes. Looking at the photos of his back we can see some low back holding and tightness in his hip rotators.
(The first session is themed "Inspiration". Where does one get their inspiration in life? How do you feel when you get inspired? Can taking full breaths be easy and give life to your spirit? These are just a few questions to ponder during and after your first Rolf session.)

Arts session 1 was centered around his breathing and connecting that breath to the rest of his body. Structural Integration work involves client movement and in many cases breath is used as the movement. We also worked on getting his shoulders to widen and hang off the ribcage like a cloak as to give the ribcage more room to expand during inhalation.
Last but not least we worked the sides of Arts hips. Letting everything down toward the feet to give him a good sense of grounding and connection to the Earth.

Overall the session went very well although I did neglect to give him an awareness exercise to help him connect his breathing patterns to the tightness in his shoulders.
